Repairs and water

Tank Stillage & Timber Repairs

A full cold water tank weighs about 250kg. It sits on a timber frame that may be seventy years old. If the platform is sagging, the joists are cracked or a rafter has rotted under a leak, we rebuild or sister the timber so the structure is sound again.

Sound familiar?

The problems we get called about.

If any of these sound like your loft, send a photo through the hatch and we will tell you what it needs.

  • A tank platform that has bowed and sits at an angle.
  • A joist split where a previous trade notched it for a pipe.
  • Rafter feet softened by years of a dripping gutter.
  • Purlins or struts removed by someone who wanted more space.

What is included

What we do, line by line.

  • Structural check of the tank platform, joists and rafters.
  • New stillage built from treated timber, spread over enough joists to carry the load.
  • Cracked or notched joists sistered with new timber bolted alongside.
  • Rotten rafter sections cut out and spliced.
  • Timber treated against rot and insect attack.
  • Photographs of the finished work in the areas you cannot reach.
