Access and storage

Loft Ladders & Access Hatches

Most lofts are hard to get into because the hatch was never meant for people, only for the occasional plumber. We widen the opening, fit a proper insulated hatch and hang a ladder that locks in place, so getting up there is a two-minute job rather than a balancing act.

Sound familiar?

The problems we get called about.

If any of these sound like your loft, send a photo through the hatch and we will tell you what it needs.

  • A hatch too small to get a storage box through.
  • A stepladder balanced on the landing and nothing to hold on to.
  • A cold draught round the hatch every winter.
  • A hatch in the wrong place, over a stairwell or in a cupboard.

What is included

What we do, line by line.

  • Survey of the ceiling joists and the space above to find the best position.
  • Opening widened and trimmed with new timber, plastered edge left ready for paint.
  • Insulated, draught-sealed hatch with a push-up or drop-down lid.
  • Aluminium or timber folding ladder fixed to the frame, with a handrail where there is room.
  • Fixed landing board at the top so you step onto something solid.
  • All offcuts and dust removed. The landing is left as we found it.

How it works

Good loft space in four steps.

  1. 01

    Call or send a message

Tell us what is happening above your ceiling. A photo through the hatch helps.

  2. 02

    We survey the loft

We measure headroom, joists, insulation depth and wiring, then send an itemised quote within two working days.

  3. 03

    One visit, whole job

Most lofts are finished in a day. Larger jobs take two. We tell you which before we start.

  4. 04

    Walk-through and photographs

You see the finished work, and we leave photographs of the areas you cannot reach.
