Can you move the hatch to a better place?

Usually, yes. If the current hatch is over the stairs or in a cupboard, we can close it and cut a new one where there is safe standing room below and headroom above.

Timber or aluminium ladder?

Aluminium is lighter and cheaper. Timber is quieter and looks better in a period house. We fit both and will tell you which suits your ceiling height.

Will a wider hatch make the landing colder?

No. The new hatch is insulated and has a draught seal round the frame, so it is warmer than most existing ones.

Do you charge for a survey?

Surveys are free. We measure headroom, joists, insulation depth and wiring, then send an itemised quote within two working days. A WhatsApp video through the hatch often gets you a guide price first.

Can you board over my existing insulation?

Yes, on a raised system. The boards sit on legs above the insulation, so it stays at full depth and keeps working.

Do I need a separate electrician for loft lighting?

No. We are NICEIC registered. Loft lighting and sockets are fitted, tested and certified by us.

How long does a loft job take?

A ladder, hatch and walkway is usually one day. Full boarding with insulation and lighting is one to two days.

Which areas do you cover?

Brighton, Hove and Sussex within 25 miles of Brighton. If you are outside that, ask. We often say yes.

Most lofts are hard to get into because the hatch was never meant for people, only for the occasional plumber. We widen the opening, fit a proper insulated hatch and hang a ladder that locks in place, so getting up there is a two-minute job rather than a balancing act.
